2010 White Memorial Conservation Award

LHFS received White Memorial Foundation‘s award which,

honors an individual or group that has made a significant contribution to the environment and to the quality of life in northwest Connecticut.

Along with the farmers’ market, the other LHFS programs were applauded for their commitment to and education about local agriculture, sustainability and active, healthy lifestyles.

Other programs that LHFS has developed are: Chef-in-Residence at the market and in schools; Sustainable Agriculture Art Activity at the Market; partnering with CT Agriculture Education Foundation in distributing agriculture related books and calendars to elementary schools in the NW corner; Healthy Beginnings - a pre-school program; Kidsmarathon for middle schoolers; Edible School Gardens.

We are VERY appreciative of White Memorial Foundation’s recognition of our efforts. It gives our ALL VOLUNTEER organization great energy to continue providing support to these programs.
